Why did I receive a Collateral Protection Insurance (CPI) Notice?
Why Did You Receive This Notice?
Your loan agreement requires you to maintain comprehensive and collision coverage on your financed vehicle for the life of the loan. If Pelican has not received proof that you have this coverage, you'll receive a CPI notice.
This doesn't necessarily mean you don't have insurance — it may simply mean we haven't received documentation yet.
What You Need to Submit
- Pelican needs documentation from your insurance policy that shows
- Pelican Credit Union listed as the lienholder
- Your deductible amount
An insurance card alone is not acceptable as proof of insurance.
How to Submit Proof of Insurance
- Online (fastest): Submit Proof of Insurance
- By Email: Send your policy as an attachment to pelicancu@imcovered.com
- By Mail: Pelican Credit Union P.O. Box 690267 San Antonio, TX 78269-0267
- By Fax: (877) 935-3967
Questions About the Insurance Program
For questions about Pelican's CPI program, call (833) 921-8093.
What Happens If You Don't Submit Proof?
If Pelican doesn't receive acceptable proof of coverage, Collateral Protection Insurance may be placed on your loan through Pelican's insurance program. This coverage protects Pelican's interest in the vehicle — it does not meet financial responsibility law requirements and does not provide liability coverage for you.
Avoid this by submitting your current insurance documentation as soon as possible.
